Our Work

The Sardarni Kartar Kaur Education Society (SKK) is a non-profit organisation registered under the Societies & Registration Act of 1860 . The society works in a Janta colony called Mauli Jagran, which was established to rehabilitate residents displaced by the construction of the Chandigarh railway station. Our facility is located in the middle of the colony allowing easy access to the students. The facility has 2 floors whereby the ground floor is utilized for teaching classes and the first floor for the students to apply and practice the skills taught during classes.

Our Programme includes Pro Bono skill training in tailoring, intensive 6 months certificate course , skill upgradation and provision of employment through the Silai Wilai Brand. The society employs local (within-the-colony) teachers so that the girls and their families can identify with them and feel secure in this knowledge. We also provide women a supportive, healthy and nurturing social environment where they can build a strong support network with their peers. This is an important contribution to their personality development.

Every day, we empower hundreds of women by teaching them sewing and entrepreneurial skills, transforming their lives. You, too, can support this noble cause by sponsoring a girl or contributing to various aspects of the initiative. Join us in making a difference today.
